The Setubal peninsula is surrounded by the Altantico Ocean and the Tagus and Sado River. Its vineyards are planted in two different landscapes, one located between 100 and 500 meters high, on clay-limestone soils, close to the Serra da Arrabida. The other area (about 80%) covers flat land, composed of sandy soils, and only 150 meters high. Its climate is temperate, hot and dry summers and mild but very rainy winters. In this region, a variety called Castelão predominates, which is mandatory in about 67% of the production of all the wines of the Setúbal peninsula. In the characteristics of these wines, white floral aromas, soft flavors and wild fruits stand out.
