Trás os Montes Wine Region, is located in the north of the Douro, more precisely behind the mountains of Marão and Alvão, being divided between three sub-regions: Chaves, Valpaços and Planalto Mirandês. Speaking of a very mountainous area in the soils, granite predominates, its climate is very dry and hot. Very hot summers and harsh winters, being a region of extremes in terms of climate. The predominant white grape varieties are siria, Fernão Pires, Gouveio, Malvasia, Rabigato and Viosinho. The whites stand out for their floral aroma and softness.
